Deming Art Council moving forward with virtual Luna County Art Show

Local artists take center stage during the month of May for the Luna County Fine Art and Craft Show. DEMING – May is the month for the highly anticipated Luna County Art Show and the Deming Art Council is making this popular show happen despite the state health order in place by the New Mexico Department of Health and New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.

DAC members will conduct a virtual art gallery online to stay in the frame work of social distancing to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic that has infected the globe.

The annual Luna County Fine Arts and Fine Arts & Crafts Show brings local talent together for a month of exhibition. This show will not be judged.

The show will be done differently this year. Anyone wishing to enter may send 1-to-3 photos (jpegs) of their work to demingarts@hotmail.com .The photos will then be put up on the Deming Art Center website at www.demingarts.org and the Deming Art Center Facebook page.

There will be no entry fee. Please label your email "Luna County Show" in the subject line and include your name, address and phone when submitting photos. Also include prices if the items that are for sale.

If the Deming Art Center is allowed to open on May 15, the exhibit may be moved the gallery for the remaining two weeks of May

"This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our local artists and crafters in many different mediums including, painting, sculpture, fiber arts, jewelry and more," said Goble. "This may be our "new normal" for a while and we hope many of our local artists will participate and that those art lovers in our community will take the time to have a look,"
